Spain transfers two ambulance APCs to Ukraine

Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares announced this. The ambulances are based on Spanish BMR wheeled armored personnel carriers. The government delegation visited the facility of the Spanish company TECNOVE, which was re-equipping these APCs into a medical version.

Later, these ambulance APCs will be sent to Ukraine, where they will help transport the wounded. Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares emphasized in his statement that his country will support Ukraine as long as necessary.

The Spanish BMR-600 6x6 wheeled armored personnel carrier was developed in the first half of the 1970s.
Serial production of the armored personnel carrier was launched in 1979. It was produced in both basic and specialized versions. It is one of the main armored personnel carriers of the Spanish Army.
The BMR has also been supplied to other countries. The basic version of the BMR-600 is designed to transport 11 soldiers and two crew members: a driver and a gunner. The body of the vehicle is made of aluminum armor.
The driver's seat is located at the front of the hull on the left. There is a hatch in the roof of the hull above the driver's seat. The engine and transmission compartment is located to the right of the driver.

The landing compartment is located in the rear of the hull and can be accessed through a ramp that also has a door. There are two hatches in the roof of the compartment for emergency escape from the APC or for firing from personal weapons.

The transmission is automatic, with six gears for forward and one for reverse. The front two pairs of wheels are steerable.

The speed on water is up to 9 kilometers per hour.
