Spanish Troops Train Ukrainian Forces in Patriot SAM System Maintenance

This information was conveyed in a statement from the General Staff of the Spanish Army. Spain is doing this within the framework of the EU Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM-UA). The Toledo Training Coordination Center (TTCC), which is subordinated to the Spanish Operational Command (MOPS), trains the Ukrainian military within the framework of EUMAM-UA.

In November 2023, Militarnyi reported that the Ukrainian MIM-23 Hawk air defense system crew started training in Spain. Training to use and maintain the Hawk air defense system was provided by specialists from the 74th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment of the Spanish Armed Forces.

At the beginning of January, it was reported that Spain prepared two armored personnel carriers for transfer to Ukraine in the version for evacuation of the wounded. The ambulances are based on Spanish BMR wheeled armored personnel carriers. As previously reported, European institutions and EU member states have announced a new military aid package for Ukraine for 2024.

After a meeting of EU defense ministers, EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell announced a EUR21 billion military aid package for Ukraine.

This assistance should help Ukraine purchase the necessary defense and military equipment to help it counter Russian aggression.
