The Security Service of Ukraine neutralized the agent network of the FSS of the Russian Federation, which included former and current officials of the Ukrainian special services. SSU press service reported on this. Five members of a spy group were detained as a result of a multi-stage special operation in different regions of Ukraine.

They include former officers of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense and the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, along with an officer of the SSU regional department. This agent network passed on information to the Russians about the Defense Forces and strategically important Ukrainian energy facilities. The defendants kept in touch with an FSS supervisor located in temporarily occupied Crimea.

According to investigators, the FSS recruited the ex-foreign intelligence officer during his active service before the full-scale invasion. "Since then, he has been collecting information about the locations of the Ukrainian military, and after February 24, 2022, about the channels of foreign weapons transfers to Ukraine.

The Russian agent also shared classified information about the peculiarities of the work and the security system of the Rivne and Khmelnytskyi NPPs with the Russian special services," the statement reports. The SSU also stated that for maximum conspiracy, the person involved did not use the phone to send information. He transmitted intelligence through an accomplice who traveled abroad as a volunteer and personally reported to the resident of the enemy intelligence service.

"The former intel officer transmitted especially sensitive information on a flash drive through smugglers from the border regions of Ukraine," the SSU reported.

Another Russian agent, who previously served in the DIU, passed the personal data of the Ukrainian defenders to the aggressor.

Another defendant, an SSU officer, reconnoitered the geolocation of fortifications and engineering barriers near the coastline of the Odesa region for the invaders. According to investigators, the Russian FSS recruited members of the group, using, in particular, threats to kill their families.

For each completed task, the defendants would receive funds from the Russian Federation.

Five members of the Russian agent network were notified of suspicion of treason.

They have been chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
