Lithuania to share purchased Renault D trucks with Ukraine

Photo credits: EU Service for Foreign Policy Instrument As part of the modernization of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and to strengthen its logistics capabilities, the Ministry of National Defense of Lithuania will purchase Renault D trucks, some of which will be transferred to Ukraine.
The Ministry of National Defense of Lithuania announced this. It is reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive these trucks as part of the Lithuanian-led demining coalition. The acquisition contract value amounts up to approximately EUR16 million.
Renault D trucks are all-wheel drive vehicles with a payload of up to 5 tons, designed to transport a wide range of goods and equipment.

This was announced after a telephone conversation between Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala the day before. According to Simonyte, the Czech initiative is especially important now, given the slowdown in the supply of ammunition to Ukraine. On February 25, it was reported that over EUR8 million were raised in Lithuania during a fundraising campaign to purchase equipment for the Ukrainian military.

The four-week fundraising campaign was organized by LRT, together with Blue/Yellow, Laisves TV, Stiprus kartu, and journalist Rita Milute.
In total, the organizers managed to raise EUR8.288 million, which will be used to purchase and deliver 1115 kits for the Ukrainian military.
The total cost of each set is about EUR7,500 and consists of a night vision monocular, a laser sight, and an individual anti-drone system.
