Ukrainian Bohdana self-propelled guns received special protective screens made of metal mesh for protection against drones. This is the work of soldiers of one of the artillery crews of the 47th Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The corresponding photos were published by the Brigade on their Facebook page.

Mounted screens made of metal mesh are designed to protect the wheel self-propelled guns primarily from enemy strike drones, which are constantly hunting for Ukrainian artillery.

Judging by the photo, the structures cover important units of the Bohdana self-propelled guns, such as the front and upper part of the cabin, where the driver and howitzer crew located, the hood above the engine, as well as the places where the 155mm shells and propellant charges are stored.

The main function of these screens is to protect against light impact FPV drones, or reduce the effectiveness of Russian loitering munitions like the Lancet.

"In the photo, the result of the work of the soldiers of one of the artillery crews is the gun protection system against enemy loitering munitions," the Brigade explained. The military unit notes that the gunman spent a lot of time creating this defense, but was satisfied with the work.

"The guys decided to name this project "HARKONNEN," it took a lot of effort and time, but the result is already impressive and justifies all the efforts," said in 47th Artillery Brigade.

As previously reported, the armor of the cabin of the Ukrainian Bohdana self-propelled gun withstood a direct hit of the Russian Lancet loitering munition and saved the life of the Ukrainian military.

This happened in February this year.

As it depicted in the photo, the armored cabin of the 2S22 Bohdana 155mm self-propelled howitzer on the three-axle chassis of the MAZ, suffered significant damage.

"At the same time, the armor was able to withstand the "strike" and thereby save the life of the crew," said the Ukrainian Armor company, which is a manufacturer of armored cabine for these domestic self-propelled howitzers.
