The industrial ship is worth over 1 billion hryvnias (US£24,500,000).

"The nationalised trawler was a component of the trade "fleet" of the sanctioned oligarch who is a part of the inner circle of the Kremlin. Verkhovsky is also one of the financial donors of the Russian war against Ukraine. The fishing business of the Russian businessman allows him to regularly transfer billions of roubles to the Russian budget.

Then, these funds are spent on armament and technical supply of occupying groupings of the aggressor state which fight against the Defence Forces of Ukraine. The beneficial owner of the vessel registered it to one of the companies in Russia's Primorsky Krai that he ran in order to evade sanctions. The members of the SSU revealed the equipment and blocked the Russian trawler for its further arrest and nationalisation in favour of Ukraine," the SSU said.
