The Ministry of Defense of Moldova announced this on its official website. The vehicles will be part of a package of American military aid to be delivered this week. The HMMWVs will be transferred to strengthen the capabilities of the Moldovan Armed Forces.
The SUVs will be used by the Moldovan army during national and international training and exercises.

In 2014, the Moldovan National Army received 43 HMMWVs from the United States government. In May, the European Union and Moldova signed a Security and Defence Partnership, which is called the first such document for the EU. Prime Minister Dorin Recean signed the document on behalf of Moldova, and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy signed it on behalf of the European Union.

This partnership will enhance the country's resilience. It will allow it to jointly address common security challenges. In the spring of this year, the Moldovan military received a package of medical assistance from NATO under the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI) program, worth EUR700,000.
