788 Ukrainian soldiers go missing while defending Krynky in Kherson Oblast
The Ukrainian police have reported that 788 Ukrainian soldiers have gone missing under special circumstances during the defence operation in the village of Krynky on the left bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast from October 2023 to the end of June in 2024. Advertisement:Slidstvo.Info spoke to approximately a dozen sailors, boatmen and medics from different marine brigades who either were in Krynky themselves or transported people there.
Most of them say that the defence of Krynky was an extremely hard mission with limited resources from the very beginning. "It was especially difficult to go there in October for the winter," said one of the officers who participated in this operation.
Advertisement:Some participants of the landing in Krynky believe that at first it was possible to defend the village and try to extend the foothold, but when the village was completely destroyed and not even the ruins of it were left at the end of winter, holding these positions became a "one-way road" for many, even though Slidstvo.Info managed to find people who fought in Krynky three times. The journalists learned from the police how many Ukrainian soldiers have gone missing in Krynky alone.
The search for 788 people who went missing there from October 2023 to the end of June 2024 is ongoing.
The number of fallen soldiers who were taken out and eventually properly buried is way lower - 262 defenders within the same period.
