Russian 6 August air attack: Ukrainian air defence downs 2 ballistic missiles and 15 attack drones

The Russians bombarded Ukraine with four ballistic missiles, two Kh-59 guided missiles and 16 kamikaze drones on the night of 5-6 August. Quote: "On the night of 5-6 August 2024, the enemy fired four Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles at Kyiv Oblast from Russia's Voronezh Oblast, two Kh-59 guided missiles from the airspace over the Azov Sea and 16 Shahed attack UAVs from Cape Chauda (Crimea) and Kursk (Russia).

The air attack was repelled by mobile firing groups of the Ukrainian defence forces, and anti-aircraft missile units and electronic warfare units of the Air Force. As a result of the combat efforts, two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, two Kh-59 guided missiles and 15 attack UAVs were shot down in Kyiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Khmelnytskyi oblasts." Background: An air-raid warning was issued in a number of Ukraine's oblasts on the night of 5-6 August.

The Russians hit the city of Kyiv with ballistic missiles and used kamikaze drones as well.

However, Ukrainian air defence downed almost all of the drones in the skies over several oblasts.
