Local mass media reported on this. The fire started on August 26, 2024 at 2:45 p.m. local time after local residents heard a massive explosion at the oil refinery. According to the governor, Vitaliy Khotsenko, the explosion was caused by a fire in the process equipment used on the territory of the enterprise.
According to official information, the fire area is more than 1,000 square meters, and seven firefighting crews are working at the scene to localize the fire. Two people were seriously injured in the explosion.
According to Baza, one victim had a limb torn off, and the other was diagnosed with a closed head injury and contusion. According to unofficial information, the explosion occurred at the AVT-11, which is designed to separate oil into fractions and further process it. The Omsk Oil Refinery in Omsk is owned by the Russian company Gazprom Neft, which supplies its products to the Russian Armed Forces.
