The Finnish publication Suomensotilas reported on this. It is worth noting that neither party provided any official information on the transfer of Finnish 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers. The conclusion on the transfer of Soviet-made Finnish SAMs to the Ukrainian arsenal was made based on a video published on X.

It captures a 2S1 with the characteristic camouflage typical of Finnish Armed Forces vehicles. In addition, the howitzers can be identified by other characteristic features: the exhaust of the combat vehicle is equipped with a heat shield, and the barrel is equipped with a speed sensor. Finland is known to have received about 74 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers from the former German Democratic Republic, and some of the howitzers have undergone a local modernization program.

The number of former Finnish self-propelled howitzers transferred to Ukraine remains unknown.

Finland has already transferred its artillery to Ukraine. In particular, Militarnyi reported about Finnish 130-mm Soviet-made K54 guns, or M-46, as they are called in Ukraine.

It is reported that the Finns purchased 144 guns from the Soviet Union in 1965-66 and 166 from the arsenals of the former GDR in 1993.

Previously, in 2023, there was information about using former Finnish 152-mm K89 guns, i.e. Giatsint-B.

In addition to towed self-propelled guns, the Finnish government also donated mortars to the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
