Zelenskyy and Scholz met privately without interpreters – president's spokesperson

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a one-on-one meeting on 23 September on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Source: Serhii Nykyforov, Press Secretary of the President of Ukraine, on the national joint 24/7 newscast, as reported by European Pravda Details: Nykyforov was speaking about the Ukrainian president's bilateral meetings at the UN and mentioned yesterday's talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in particular.

"The leaders decided to hold it as a one-on-one meeting, without even interpreters, absolutely behind closed doors.

They chose this format, and therefore nothing can be taken out of this meeting in public," Zelenskyy's spokesperson added.

In a brief statement after the meeting with Scholz, the president himself said he had talked about "how to bring a just peace closer and preserve unity", as well as about preparations for the second Peace Summit.
