The value of the order, which was booked at the beginning of the third quarter of 2024, corresponds to a volume in the mid-double-digit million euro range. Rheinmetall Expal Munitions S.A.U., Spain, will manufacture a total of six-digit numbers of mortar shells of various types.

Delivery of the ammunition is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2025 and be completed in the summer of 2026. The order also includes various additional services.

Defense giant Rheinmetall is currently one of the world's leading manufacturers of large-caliber ammunition. In July, German defense concern Rheinmetall had received its first order from the Ukrainian government to construct an ammunition factory in the Ukraine.

The intention is to start the ammunition production in the Ukraine within 24 months. The order covers the factory's full technical equipment prior to commissioning.

This involves a total value ranging in a low three-digit million euro range.

Together with its Ukrainian joint venture partner, Rheinmetall will also be responsible for operating the plant.

In June 2024, Armin Papperger, CEO of Rheinmetall AG, and Oleksandr Kamyshin, Ukrainian Minister for Strategic Industries, signed an agreement to expand strategic cooperation at the "Ukraine Recovery Conference" in Berlin.
