8 October, 2024 Russian 2S7 Pion self-propelled gun after strike. Source: Special Kherson Cat Artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a Russian 2S7 Pion 203mm self-propelled gun, its crew, and ammunition using cluster munitions.
The Special Kherson Cat columnist published the video of the incident on his account in X. Soldiers of the Attack UAV Company "Divine Punishment" (Nebesna Kara) of the 54th Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa guided the artillery at the target. The gun was "caught" when a truck with ammunition arrived, which detonated after being hit.

The truck with the ammunition was standing almost close to the 2S7 Pion 203mm self-propelled gun. The X user 4emberlen, who published a photo, confirmed the destruction of the gun.

Considering the use of cluster munitions and the detonation of the ammunition, the 2S7 Pion 203mm self-propelled gun could have been completely destroyed or lost its combat capability.
2S7 Pion 203mm self-propelled gun
The 2S7 Pion is a Soviet-era 203mm self-propelled gun designed to destroy especially important objects and enemy fortifications. The main weapon is the 2?44 203mm gun, which has a maximum firing rate of 1.5 shots per minute. Depending on the ammunition, the range of fire is between 13 and 47 kilometers.
The 2S7's undercarriage is made on the basis of the ?-80 MBT and consists of seven pairs of double charred support rollers and six pairs of single support rollers.

According to the Oryx OSINT resource, during the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, Russia lost 27 systems destroyed, damaged, and captured, including upgraded versions of the 2S7M Malka.
