Turkey has demonstrated the design of its future aircraft carrier, MUGEM, with a displacement of 60,000 tons. The Army Recognition publication shared a photo of a model of the new aircraft carrier, which was presented at the SAHA EXPO 2024. The MUGEM aircraft carrier is set to become the largest warship in the country's history.

Companies from many countries are represented at the 4th International Defense and Aerospace Exhibition SAHA EXPO 2024, which opened in Istanbul. It exhibits the latest systems and equipment developed by companies with advanced technologies in all areas of the defense sector.

Turkey, as the organizer of this exhibition, also presented a significant arsenal of products from its military industry. According to Western military experts, one of the brightest examples was the model of the national aircraft carrier MUGEM "Milli Ucak Gemisi."

The design process for creating this aircraft carrier was completed in January of this year, allowing Ankara to begin its implementation. According to observers, this naval giant, with a length of 285 meters and a displacement of 60,000 tons, will demonstrate the achievements of Turkey's naval potential, surpassing its predecessor, the Anadolu aircraft carrier. With a top speed of 25 knots and a range of 10,000 nautical miles, the future aircraft carrier will be able to participate in both regional and global operations.

The aircraft carrier can take on board 50 air platforms, including unmanned aerial vehicles. Of these, 30 aircraft can be stored in its hangar and 20 on the flight deck. This number can be increased if necessary.

In 2023, the President of Turkey announced his intention to build a second aircraft carrier for the country's navy.

In his speech, the Turkish leader noted that the future aircraft carrier would be twice the size of the recently commissioned Anadolu landing ship.
