This information was confirmed by video footage from local residents, which captured the attack on the ship at the naval base in Kaspiysk. The strike took place at 7 a.m. and was carried out by a strike drone at a range of about 1,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, a considerable distance that it covered without being detected by Russian air defense. Despite officials' statements that all drones were successfully intercepted, local residents were able to record the moment the drone struck the naval base, which houses corvettes, as well as modern Project 11661K frigates.
As part of the Caspian Flotilla, the Kalibr cruise missile carriers are the Project 11661K frigates, Project 21631 Buyan-M corvettes, and Project 22800 corvettes. These ships are equipped with vertical launchers for 8 Kalibr cruise missiles and use them to strike Ukraine's territory from the Caspian Sea.
Video footage of the attack captures it damaging a Project 12411 corvette armed with 4 Kh-35 anti-ship missiles. Boats of this type have a displacement of about 500 tons. In addition to the Kh-35 anti-ship missiles, they are armed with an AK-176 76mm automatic universal gun, two AK-630M six-barrel 30mm anti-aircraft artillery systems, and man-portable air defense missile systems Strela-3 or Verba.

This ship serves as a light boat for hitting surface targets and has limited strike and air defense capabilities. According to official information, the Caspian Flotilla does not currently have missile boats of this type, which may indicate that the ship is a reserve unit or is probably in storage.
Militarnyi previously reported that the Conroe Trader rail ferry, which provided fuel to the occupiers in Crimea, sank in the Russian port of Kavkaz, located on the Taman Peninsula.
Russian propaganda outlets claimed that a Ukrainian Neptune anti-ship missile allegedly hit the ferry.
The Ukrainian side has not officially commented on the incident.
