EU plans to discuss new sanctions against Iran for supporting Russia in war

The EU Council will hold a meeting at the level of foreign ministers on Monday, 18 November, to discuss new sanctions against Iran for helping Russia in its war against Ukraine. The official announced that a political agreement had been reached on a second sanctions package against Iran concerning the transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia.

Additionally, work is underway on the 15th sanctions package against Russia. The source said that the restrictive measures will be similar to those introduced in the first round: there are seven individuals and seven legal entities. The EU representative stated that nothing drastic was planned, just the addition of new people and the creation of new organisations.

The official emphasised that they wanted to continue putting pressure on Iran, sending a clear message to Tehran that it must stop its military cooperation with Russia.

Radio Liberty reports that the sanctions list will include one individual and four legal entities. These include three Russian shipping companies that deliver Iranian military goods to Russia, including drone components, as well as an Iranian national maritime carrier. Background:
