In particular, the new top EU diplomat, Kaja Kallas, said so.

But, as Radio Liberty's source said, this discussion is inevitable, given the French president's visit to Poland and the media debate on sending peacekeeping troops to Ukraine, Donald Trump's upcoming accession to power in the US, and the need to hold a discussion regarding the war in Ukraine with him.

Two other diplomats also noted that this topic is being raised precisely to prepare for a conversation with the US president-elect and to ensure the EU's participation in peace talks.

At the same time, they said, the topic of European troops is not being developed and remains at the level of an idea.
