Oil depot in Oryol region attacked by drones

On the morning of December 14, 2024, strike drones attacked an oil depot near the city of Oryol, capital of the Oryol region. The drone attack was officially reported by the governor of the region, Andrey Klychkov. According to him, the drones struck the Stalnyi Kony production and dispatching station, where large volumes of oil products are stored.

The strike hit one of the tanks, causing a massive fire. The oil depot itself is located at coordinates 53.041662, 36.131995 in the village of Stalnyi Kony, approximately 110 km from the Ukrainian border.

It is owned by JSC Yugo-Zapad Transnefteprodukt and is an important element of the oil product pipeline to such facilities as Stanovo LPGS, Plavsk BCP, 8N LPGS (Unecha), and Bryansk NP.

The fire was also confirmed by NASA satellites on the FIRMS service, where the first fire was detected at 2:20 am Kyiv time. Despite the fact that the oil depot was confirmed to have been hit, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially stated that 37 drones had been intercepted by air defense forces.

In turn, the official report of the local authorities states that the attack resulted in a fire at the production facility.
