In Russia, five locomotives were burned and a track was blown up

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported on this. In particular, on December 14, 2024, an explosion took place on a railway bridge in the Russian regional center of Ulyanovsk, destroying the railway track. An explosion in the railway district of Ulyanovsk, on the line near the Sviyaga River, a few kilometers from the local locomotive depot and the Ulyanovsk Mechanical Plant.

Although such sabotage would not stop the use of the railroad line, it would complicate the work of the local railroad depot. The city of Ulyanovsk is home to several important Russian defense industry enterprises.

In particular, the Ulyanovsk Cartridge Works, which produces ammunition for small arms, and the Ulyanovsk Mechanical Plant, which produces the Buk-M3 air defense system. Although such sabotage would not stop the use of the railroad line, it would complicate the work of the local railroad depot.

"The process of mysterious destruction or disabling of facilities used by the aggressor state in the genocidal war against Ukraine does not stop," the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported.

Sabotage on the Russian railroad has been going on since the beginning of the great invasion. The first public case was reported in April 2022.

A railway bridge in the border Shebekinsky district of the Belgorod region was blown up. Since then, sabotage of various sizes has occurred regularly. For example, the explosion occurred at the end of September 2024 on a railway bridge over the Samara River near Kinel, Samara region.

The explosion took place as a freight train was passing through the bridge.

However, the train was not critically damaged and could continue moving.
