Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has said that the decision to deprive Russia of the status of an IAEA member state does not depend on his will. Source: Rafael Grossi, during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Wednesday in Kyiv, writes Interfax-Ukraine "The issue does not concern the capabilities and authority of the IAEA Director General.
Many bodies, like the IAEA, consist of many participants or members, and political decisions are made during the discussion, evaluation and approval by all member states," Grossi said.
The IAEA Director General was asked why Russia's IAEA membership status has not been revoked and under what conditions this is possible. Grossi has responded by saying that such a decision does not depend on his will.
