UAVs and missiles: Air Force reveals armament Russia used to strike Ukraine on Friday
Russia has involved three vessels in the Black Sea and Tu-95 strategic bomber jets in the large-scale missile attack on Ukraine on the morning of 10 February. Source: Yurii Ihnat, spokesperson of the Air Force of Ukraine, on air during the 24/7 national joint newscast Quote: "The enemy started attacking with Shaheds [Iranian-made kamikaze drones - ed.], trying to find out weaknesses of the air defence system.
As per the information available, six Kalibr cruise missiles were launched apart from Shaheds; five of the missiles were shot down. In addition, five out of seven Shaheds were shot down as well. Then, attacks started all throughout Ukraine from strategic aircraft and vessels in the Black Sea.
Air-launched and sea-based cruise missiles were launched.
Three vessels were involved: a missile boat, a frigate and a submarine. Moreover, they [Russians] involved eight Tu-95 strategic bomber jets in it. Common places where cruise missiles are launched from are Volgodonsk and the Caspian Sea."
Details: Ihnat has also commented on the statement of Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, about two Kalibr cruise missiles that crossed the border of Ukraine with Moldova and flew over the air space of Romania. Ihnat has said that the Ukrainian forces could have shot down these Russian missiles but there were risks that fragments of these missiles would fall in these states. Therefore, the Ukrainian defenders did not do it right away.
