Ukraine hopes for Macron’s visit in March
Vadym Omelchenko, Ukraine's Ambassador to France, has voiced his hope that French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Kyiv next month, noting that the invitation is still in effect. Source: Omelchenko on air of the RTL radio station, as European Pravda reported, citing AFP Details: Commenting on the visit of US President Joe Biden to Kyiv, the ambassador expressed regret that the French president could not do so, as Ukraine wanted to organise it as a signal of support.
Noting that the invitation to Macron was "still valid," the diplomat voiced hope that "the visit will still take place in March."
Omelchenko also thanked France for its "unprecedented level of support" since the start of the full-scale invasion. "And I really hope that France will continue to provide support," he added. As AFP's diplomatic sources state that the French president wants to visit Ukraine, and wants to do so with "specific announcements." Background: Last time Macron visited Kyiv was in June 2022, together with the leaders of Germany, Italy, and Romania, where he expressed support for Ukraine's European perspective.
