EU allocates €500 million to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The European Union allocates EUR500 more million to support the capabilities and resilience of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported about this. This assistance will be provided under the European Peace Fund.
The total contribution of the European Union within the framework of the fund will reach EUR3.1 billion. "The mobilisation of an additional EUR500 million by EU member states is yet another proof that we remain steadfast in our support to the Ukrainian armed forces to defend the country against the escalating illegal aggression. Russia's latest indiscriminate attacks on Ukrainian civilians and civilian infrastructure are another proof of Russia's complete disrespect for human rights and international law," Josep Borrell, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stated.
Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign AffairsAs previously reported, the ministers of foreign affairs of the European Union approved the creation of a training military mission for Ukraine.
This regards to training up to 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers. Instead of a single training center in the countries of the European Union, separate training courses by specialty should be organized. Poland will be one of the countries on whose territory the Ukrainian military will be trained under this mission.
On October 15, the United States Department of Defense has made public the contents of a new £725 million military aid package for Ukraine.
This defense assistance comprises weapons and equipment necessary to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
