Occupiers in Melitopol lock students in schools during the working day

Victoriia Andrieieva, UP journalist.Zyttia The invaders are holding children hostage in the occupied territories.  "Security guards" are not letting them out of educational institutions until the end of the working day.

This was reported by Ivan Fedorov, Mayor of Melitopol, during a national TV channel broadcast.

"Children come to school in the morning, guarded mostly by Chechens. They lock up establishments: children can't even go out for a break or see their parents during the day", says the mayor of Melitopol.

Fedorov said that students are released only at the end of the day after an additional check. "This means that our children are held captive all day long", concludes the major.

In occupied Mariupol, for example, the education situation in school is no better - children are forced to study in the corridors. It should be noted that some children continue to study Ukrainian curricula online in Melitopol. Lessons are taught by teachers who have left for Ukrainian-controlled territory.
