Russia used 2010 photos of the Slovenian nuclear power plant's radioactive waste repository to claim Ukraine is planning to detonate a "dirty bomb". The government of Slovenia reacted to Russia's tweet on Ukraine's alleged preparation for a "dirty bomb" detonation, which was illustrated by photos of the Kr?ko Nuclear Power Plant's radioactive waste repository. The Slovenian government retweeted the Russian Defense Ministry's tweet and stated that the photo used by the Russians belongs to the Agency for Radwaste Management of Slovenia (ARAO).

The Slovenian government added that the photo showed smoke detectors. It is also stressed that the photo was used without ARAO permission. At the same time, it is emphasized that radioactive waste in Slovenia is stored safely, is under supervision and is not used to make a "dirty bomb".

Previously, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, held telephone talks with the Minister of Defense of France, S?bastien Lecornu, the Minister of Defense of Turkey, Hulusi Akar, and British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, during which he "expressed concern over the alleged possible use of a "dirty bomb" by Ukraine."

Statements

James Kariuki, the UK Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, said after the meeting of the UN Security Council that Russia initiated the meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the issue of the "dirty bomb" allegedly created by Ukraine, but at the same time did not provide any evidence on this topic .

"We have not seen or heard any new evidence. It just wastes our time. This is pure Russian disinformation, which we have seen many times before, and it must stop," Kariuki told reporters.

Kyiv called Moscow's accusations a lie and emphasized that Ukraine supports the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that Russia's statements about the alleged use of a "dirty bomb" by Ukraine indicate that Russia has already prepared everything, so the world should react to it as harshly as possible.

The heads of the foreign policy departments of the USA, France and Great Britain made a joint statement, condemning Russia's false attempts to accuse Ukraine of being ready to use a "dirty bomb" on its own territory and confirming Ukraine's steadfast support.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, officially suggested that the IAEA send experts to Ukraine's nuclear facilities to refute the Russian lie about the "dirty bomb".
