CBS journalists said that the Russian warplane deliberately flew in front of the MQ-9 Reaper drone and dropped fuel in front of it. From the released video it follows that the American drone was not hit by missiles. U.S.
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin called as aggressive, risky and dangerous collision of the Russian Su-27 with an American drone over the Black Sea. "This hazardous episode is part of a pattern of aggressive, and risky, and unsafe actions in international airspace," Austin said. Austin assured that the United States "will continue to fly and to operate" in accordance with international law. "So make no mistake, the United States will continue to fly and to operate wherever international law allows.
And it is incumbent upon Russia to operate as military aircraft in a safe and professional manner," said Lloyd Austin. According to CNN sources, the United States remotely erased confidential software to prevent classified information's gathering by Russia. White House spokesman, John Kirby, said the wreckage of the drone had not yet been found.
"If their message was to deter or dissuade us from flying and operating in international airspace over the Black Sea, it will fail. We are going to continue to fly and work in international airspace over international waters. The Black Sea does not belong to any country," Kirby said.

According to Oleksii Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, this incident with MQ-9 is a signal from Putin that he is ready to expand the conflict zone with the involvement of other parties. "The tactic of all-in is a constant increase in rates in the context of a strategic loss in the hope of a change in circumstances," said Oleksii Danilov.
MQ-9 incident
On March 14, the U.S. Air Force issued a statement saying that the Russian Su-27 fighter during the interception damaged the American MQ-9 Reaper reconnaissance and combat UAV over the Black Sea, as a result of which the drone had to be flooded.
According to estimates from the American side, the Russian Su-27 suffered damage during a collision with the MQ-9. This contradicts the statements of the Russian Ministry of Defense, which says that both of its aircraft allegedly "did not come into contact" with an unmanned aerial vehicle.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, allegedly due to sharp maneuvering, the MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle went into unmanageable flight with a loss of altitude and collided with the surface.
"Russian fighters did not use weapons, did not come into contact with an unmanned aerial vehicle and returned to the air base," the Russian defense ministry says.
