Courteney Cox Responds: Prince Harry's Claims That He Did …
Recently, Friends star Courteney Cox cleared the air about an incident mentioned in Prince Harry's memoir, Spare, which happened when he stayed at her house while on a visit to Los Angeles a couple of years ago. The 58-year-old revealed to Variety that although she had not read the book, it was true that the Duke of Sussex stayed at her place.
"He did stay here for a couple of days -- probably two or three. He's a really nice person," Cox told the publication. "I haven't read the book. I do want to hear it, because I've heard it's really entertaining.
But yes, it's gotten back to me about it. I'm not saying there were mushrooms! I definitely wasn't passing them out."
Prince Harry reveals that he had always been a fan of 'Friends'
Harry disclosed in his newly published book that he was addicted to Friends and that it came in handy when he struggled with panic attacks and anxiety after his second Afghanistan tour. "Day after day, night after night, I sat around eating takeaway, watching 24.
Or Friends," he told Variety. "I think I might've watched every episode of Friends in 2013. I decided I was a Chandler." He further explained that during a visit to the United States in 2016, he was invited to a party at Cox's house and he was excited to meet the Friends star.
He traveled to the actress' LA home in the company of two friends. "We went from the home of [my friend] Thomas' girlfriend to the home of Courteney Cox. She was a friend of Thomas' girlfriend and had more room," he revealed. "Also, she was traveling, on a job, and didn't mind if we crashed at her place. No complaints from me."
"As a Friends fanatic, the idea of crashing at Monica's was highly appealing.
And amusing. But then... Courteney turned up.
I was very confused. Was her job canceled? I didn't think it was my place to ask.
More: Does this mean we have to leave?" he explained. "She smiled. 'Of course not Harry. Plenty of room.' Great, But I was still confused because... she was Monica. And I was a Chandler.
I wondered if I'd ever work up the courage to tell her. Was there enough tequila in California to get me that brave?"
Prince Harry said he was messed up by the mushroom he ate at Courteney Cox's house
The Duke of Sussex claimed that just as promised, things became more interesting as Cox invited other people, including Will Arnette from Batman Lego, who granted him his wish to do the voice from the movie. Prince Harry further stated that Arnette took them to the fridge where they discovered the mushrooms.
"Then, maybe to get rid of us, he led my mate and me to the fridge, from which he extracted a soft drink.
While the door was open, we spotted a huge box of black diamond mushroom chocolates," he detailed in the book. "Somebody behind me said they were for everybody. Help yourself, boys. My mate and I grabbed several, gobbled them, and washed them down with tequila."
After consuming the chocolates, the 38-year-old revealed that he and his friends stepped outside the house for a bit only to come back inside to use the bathroom and he began hallucinating. "Beside the toilet was a round silver bin, the kind with a foot pedal to open the lid. I started at the bin. It started back.
What -- staring? I stepped on the pedal. A huge open grin," Harry wrote. "Now the loo became a head too.
The bowl was its gaping at me, the hinges of the seat were its piercing silver eyes.
It said: Aaah."
