KATHMANDU, April 7: Nepal Police have arrested six members of a group that embezzled the insurance money of Nepali citizens who died while working abroad. The group reportedly took advantage of the situation when Nepali citizens died abroad and claimed their insurance money by deceitfully submitting fake documents, depriving the family members of the rightful insurance claim. The group was arrested and taken into custody after an investigation by the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Circle.

They were presented to the media during a press conference held on Friday. According to the police, the group cheated the families of more than 35 individuals who had died while working abroad. The arrested individuals include Prakash Bahadur Gole from Sarlahi's Lalbandi, Rudraman Gole from Harion of Sarlahi, Dik Bahadur Malla from Lalbandi of Sarlahi, and Rabin Moktan, also from Lalbandi of Sarlahi.

The police team also arrested Rambahadur Tamang from the Roshigaon Rural Municipality in Kavre.

During the press conference, Binod Kumar Lamsal from Lalbandi of Sarlahi, whose family was also a victim of the scam, stated that the group defrauded him of his rightful insurance claim, stating that the group only gave a small amount to the family, while keeping the major chunk for themselves.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police have asked Nepali citizens to be vigilant about their insurance policies and to report any suspicious activities immediately.
