King Charles and Prince William ‘no longer treated Harry as trusted …

King Charles and Prince William were forced to implement a new rule surrounding Prince Harry following his bombshell interview on American television. The Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan Markle sat down with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021 where they discussed in length about the royal family. Some of the accusations they made included a member of the family raising concerns about their unborn son's skin colour, the unplanned decision to quit royal duties and allegations Kate Middleton made the American actress cry before her wedding.

His Majesty and the next in line to the throne were reportedly stunned by the sit-down chat, which also aired in other parts of the world including Australia. The father and son were left "extremely upset by Harry's arrogance" and decided they could "never meet Harry alone again", according to royal author Robert Jobson. A source from the royal household revealed in Mr Jobson's new book, Our King, parts of which were published in The Daily Mail, they then devised a plan.

"They decided they would no longer treat Harry as a trusted member of the family," the unnamed former worker said. "They would never meet Harry alone. "There would always have to be another person in the room."

The relationship between the trio has been severely strained since Prince Harry decided to relocate to Los Angeles with his young family for "privacy". There, he embarked on several multi-million dollar media projects with Meghan where the pair criticised the institution recounting their experiences as part of the British royals in a Netflix documentary, Spotify podcast deal and the Duke's memoir, Spare. In the six-part series on Netflix, Harry had also appeared to take a swipe at his brother and wife, suggesting men within the institution often marry someone "who would fit the mould" rather than somebody who they were "destined to be with".

He also believed the royal family were convinced his relationship with Meghan would not last as she was an actress. "I think they were surprised. Maybe surprised that a ginger could land such a beautiful woman and such an intelligent woman," the Duke said.

The father-of-two also accused the King's office of releasing details of he and Meghan's planned move to Canada after they relinquished their royal duties, but the relocation was then scrapped as it was heavily reported in the media. Prince Harry also alleged William screamed at him in January 2020 at a meeting with the Queen and their father over how he would move forward as a non-working royal. He wanted to be "half in and half out" of the family, whereby he and Meghan would have their own jobs but was still happy to help his grandmother.

"It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me, and my father say things that simply weren't true and my grandmother quietly sit there," he said.

'It's their fault they left': Fergie's subtle dig at Harry and Meghan

It comes after the book claimed Kate confided in a senior royal, saying the walkabout with Prince Harry and Meghan was "one of the hardest things" she's had to do. The moment in question came two days after Queen Elizabeth II's death, as thousands of mourners gathered outside Windsor Castle to lay flowers and pay their respects. Princes William and Harry, the first time they were seen together since their grandfather's funeral in April 2021, emerged with their wives as they walked side-by-side to Cambridge Gate where they viewed the letters and flowers left for Her Majesty.

It was reported the idea to show a unified family dynamic came from the older brother given the ongoing reports of a feud between the two couples.

However, veteran royal correspondent Robert Johnson claims the reconciliation for the walkabout was a struggle for Princess Kate.

"Catherine later admitted to a senior royal that, such was the ill feeling between the two couples, the joint walkabout was one of the hardest things she'd ever had to do," he wrote in his new book Our King, which details other royal moments never heard.
