King Charles 'played a blinder by putting ball in Harry's court', says …

King Charles has "played a blinder" by asking Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to attend his coronation, according to a royal expert. Former BBC royal correspondent Michael Cole asked why Harry is yet to accept his dad's invitation to the historic ceremony when others would love to witness "an event that has only happened seven times in the past 200 years". It comes as relations between Harry and Charles are seemingly at an all time low following the revelations about the Royal Family in Harry's memoir Spare and the Sussexes' Netflix series.

Regarding their attendance at the coronation, Cole told the Sunday Express: "The King has played a blinder with the vexatious Duke and Duchess of Sussex. From the outset, he let it be known that Harry and Meghan were welcome at his coronation. "That put the ball in their court.

If they refused, they would look petty and mean-spirited. If they accepted, it would open them to the charge of hypocrisy, with people entitled to ask, 'Well, what was that all about, knocking seven bells out of your family but then turning up for the party?'" Yesterday, the Daily Star reported that senior royals were war-gaming how to deal with "renegade" royals according to royal author Robert Jobson, writing in his upcoming book Our King.

He claims both King Charles and Prince William didn't want to risk one-on-one meetings with Harry.

An inside source said: "William is the one who is most upset and needs time to calm down. He has been painted as hot-headed and unsympathetic." Jobson's book, serialised in the Daily Mail, adds that the chance of reconciliation between the Prince of Wales and his brother is becoming less likely.

Speaking on the pending coronation RSVP, a royal source told The Daily Beast: "William is baffled by Harry not publicly saying he is coming to the coronation, especially because everyone thinks he will be there. "Relations have never been this bad and it feels like Harry is just stringing it out to try and be difficult, frankly."
