Liz Truss, who served as British Prime Minister for a few weeks in 2022, has called to speed up the process of Ukraine joining the North Atlantic Alliance and to provide it with Western fighter jets. Source: Liz Truss during a speech at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative  think tank in Washington, as European Pravda correspondent reports Details: The British politician made a statement about Ukraine in the context of how a Russian victory in a full-scale war could strengthen China.

Quote: "[China - ed.] would decide that it can act with impunity towards Taiwan. This would encourage it and Russia to interfere more in Europe. It would be a direct economic threat to us in Europe and to you on the other side of the Atlantic [USA - ed. ]."

She called the current global confrontation a battle between free democracies and autocracies, "in which we all take part".

The former prime minister of the UK emphasised that she was proud of the reaction of her country in the context of aid to Ukraine and warned against the "domino effect"; she repeated her call to Rishi Sunak's government to provide Ukraine with fighter jets. "I believe that we should speed up Ukraine's membership in NATO. We should have done it many years ago, but the best time for it is now," Truss emphasised.
