Wanted illegal recruiter arrested in Pasay City
A woman wanted for large-scale illegal recruitment was arrested by members of the Pasay City Police Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) on Thursday, April 13. The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspect as Ma. Theresa Velarde. She was arrested at 11:20 a.m. on F.B.
Harrison Street in Pasay City. Based on the report of Pasay City police to the SPD, members of WSS conducted "Oplan Galugad" in line with One Time Big Time (OTBT) operations against wanted persons, leading to the arrest of Velarde who was ranked the third most wanted person at station level for the month of April. Members of the WSS served the warrant of arrest to Velarde for violation of the Migrant Worker and Overseas Filipino Act of 1995 (Sec.
6 in relation to Sec.
7 of RA 8042 as amended RA 10022). Judge Elenita Carlos Dimaguila of Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 112 issued the warrant for the arrest of Velarde on March 24 with no bail recommended. The suspect is now detained at the police custodial facility.
