The Supreme Court on Friday directed that no coercive action be taken against the editor-in-chief and CEO of the news website OpIndia.com in connection with FIRs registered by the Tamil Nadu police over reports on alleged attacks on migrant labourers in the state. "...we direct that no coercive steps be taken against the petitioners for a period of four weeks so as to facilitate access to judicial remedies," a bench of CJI D Y Chandrachud and Justice Narasimha ordered after hearing the plea by OpIndia editor-in-chief Nupur Sharma and CEO Rahul Roushan. On their prayer for quashing the FIR[1], the bench said they should pursue the plea before the jurisdictional court.
