Dozens of bodies wash ashore in Libya after migrant boats sink

STORY: Dozens of bodies washed ashore in western Libya, after two boats carrying migrants sank on Tuesday, according to the coast guard. Bassam Mahmoud from Egypt is among those who survived the trip. He says there were about 80 passengers on board, destined for Europe.

An argument broke out while the boat was sinking, he says - but the man in charge refused to stop. A child was among the bodies recovered, according to the coast guard. The migrants were from Pakistan, Syria, Tunisia, and Egypt.

A Red Crescent aid worker said dozens more were recovered in western Tripoli in the past six days, all from one boat.

They said they expected to find even more bodies in the coming days.
