Czech Republic plans to manufacture F/A-259 in cooperation with Ukraine

The Czech defense industry has prepared six projects for cooperation with Ukraine. Czech President Petr Pavel said that the projects concern weapons, ammunition, aircraft, and tank repair. "We have prepared six key co-production projects based on both Ukrainian and Czech firms," Pavel said.

The following Czech project participants were named:

  • Sellier & Bellot;
  • Aero Vodochody;
  • Czechoslovak Group;
  • Vojensky opravarensky podnik.

The projects concern the production of ammunition and small arms, the repair of ?-64 and ?-72 tanks, the joint production of F/A-259 Aero Vodochody aircraft.

F/A-259 is a further development of the Aero L-159 ALCA - light combat aircraft and advanced trainer. F/A-259 can also use graded or rolled earth, grass runways and has seven suspension points for armament. The product for transferring production to Ukraine can be, for example, a pistol on the Czech technological base.

Sellier & Bellot manufactures small arms ammunition. Czech industrial and technological holding - Czechoslovak Group - owns shares in many defense companies.

The most famous member of the holding is the vehicle manufacturer TATRA TRUCKS.

In turn, the Vojensky opravarensky podnik defense company is engaged in the repair and restoration of armored vehicles.
