The upcoming coronation will undoubtedly be the biggest moment in King Charles and Queen Camilla's lives.

But earlier this year, the royal couple celebrated a significant milestone in their personal lives: their 18th wedding anniversary.

The King and Queen - who first dated back in the 1970s - tied the knot in Windsor on 9 April 2005.

The couple's big  day was noticeably less lavish than King Charles' wedding to Princess Diana in July 1981 - which was held at St Paul's Cathedral and watched by over 750m people from around the world.

Instead, Charles and Camilla - who had both been divorced - opted for a civil ceremony which was followed by a religious blessing.

Here FEMAIL takes a look back over all aspects of the couple's wedding day in pictures.

Where did King Charles and Camilla get married?

The royal couple married in a civil ceremony on April 9, 2005 at Windsor Guildhall.

For the service, Camilla wore a white silk dress with a scalloped trim.

Over the top of her wedding dress, the Queen donned an elegant white tailored coat.

On the lapel, she wore a diamond feathered brooch - which perfectly matched her diamond bracelet.

The Queen finished off her bridal ensemble with a pair of nude suede shoes and a statement Philip Tracey hat topped with fake flowers.

Meanwhile, King Charles was smart in a black long-line jacket, grey stripped trousers and a cream waistcoat.

The couple's wedding ceremony was attended by their children from their previous marriages - Prince William, Prince Harry, Laura Lopes and Tom Parker Bowles.

Unlike Charles first wedding, the couple's civil ceremony was kept private. Buckingham Palace announced that there would be no music or readings featured in the order of service.

After the ceremony, the royal newlyweds took the time to greet royal fans who had gathered on the streets of Windsor to celebrate their marriage.

Where did King Charles and Queen Camilla have their marriage blessing?

Following this, the couple made the two-minute car journey to St George's Chapel for their religious blessing - which was attended by several members of the Royal Family.

For the second part of their day, Camilla changed into another outfit designed by Anna Valentine and Antonia Robinson.

The Queen wore a long-sleeved light blue coat with gold embroidery with a matching chiffon gown underneath.

Instead of a tiara, Camilla wore another show-stopping Philip Tracey headpiece for the occasion - which featured gold feathers.

During the ceremony, the couple acknowledged their 'sins and wickedness' - having previously been unfaithful to their previous spouses.

Charles and Camilla said a prayer book confession which read: 'We acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, Which we, from time to time, most grievously have committed, by thought, word and deed, Against thy Divine Majesty, Provoking most justly thy wrath and indignation against us.'

Did The Queen attend King Charles and Camilla's wedding?

The Queen and Prince Philip did not attend Charles and Camilla's civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall.

However, the King's late parents did watch Charles and Camilla's religious blessing at St George's Chapel - where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank tied the knot.

After the blessing, the Queen hosted a lunch for foreign royals who had travelled to the UK at Windsor Castle.

The happy couple and their immediate family also posed for photos in the White Drawing Room within the royal residence.

Charles and Camilla were joined by the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince William, Prince Harry, the bride's father Bruce Shand (who passed away the following year) and her children Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes.

On their wedding day, it was announced that the Queen had appointed Charles and Camilla the new Duke and Duchess of Cornwall - titles they held for the next 17 years.

The King and Queen opted for a traditional fruit cake for their wedding. It was made by Lincolnshire resident Dawn Blunden - who had started selling her cakes in Highgrove's gift shop

King and Queen Consort's impressive fruit cake was made by Dawn Blunden, owner of the Sophisticake cake shop in Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire.

The bakery owner later revealed that the enormous cake required 1,080 eggs and 20 bottles of brandy to make.

Writing on her website, Dawn Blunden explained how her team were commissioned the King and Queen Consort's wedding cake after sending the then Prince of Wales some samples to try.

The baker's son Darren has cooked for the King in his career and mentioned his mother's business to the royal - which prompted Charles to ask Dawn to put forward three different types of cakes they could sell in his Highgrove gift shop.

She wrote: 'Several months later we were asked to attend a meeting at Clarence House in London to discuss the wedding cake.

'Having secured the commission, we were given just four weeks notice to plan, bake and decorate not only the huge wedding cake itself but 2,500 slices of additional cake for special commemorative tins, all the while keeping the whole thing secret!'

In total, it took 130 hours to coat and decorate the cake with sugar roses, leeks, daffodils and thistles, which represent England, Scotland and Wales.

Three weeks after the wedding, King Charles sent the bakery owner a thank you note.

He wrote: 'I can't tell you how much my wife and I are enjoyed eating pieces of wedding cake for tea each afternoon.

It really is delicious!'
