The company's press service announced this. These radars are purchased through two contracts. Arrangements also include technical support and equipment maintenance.

Saab already supplies Giraffe 1X radars to the British military. Giraffe 1X is a lightweight, multi-mission, 3D surveillance radar. It can serve as an air surveillance component for air defense.

It provides the military with air defense target data, detects drones, and can act as a counter-battery radar.

10 radars will operate in the interests of ground units, whilst a single unit has been procured for the Royal Navy and will be mounted and tested on the XV Patrick Blackett. This ship is operated by NavyX to test, trial, and experiment with new technologies and concepts.

"These orders are an excellent example of how our fast-deployed, software-defined systems continue to support our UK customer and further strengthen our close partnership with the UK MoD," says Dean Rosenfield, President of Saab UK. The total value of the order is SEK 264 million (over £23 million).

In December 2022, Saab received a contract from the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence to purchase NLAW light anti-tank weapon systems.

The systems will be assembled at the Thales plant in Belfast in Northern Ireland, and delivered to the British Army. The UK Ministry of Defense claimed that the GBP229 million deal would involve the production of thousands of NLAWs.
