Police were scrambled to Lyndhurst Way in Peckham (stock picture) Two men were shot at by moped-riding thugs who fired a gun into their car in south London - causing the victims' vehicle to flip as they tried to flee. Police were scrambled to Lyndhurst Way in Peckham around 6.15pm on Sunday, after a member of the public rang 999 to report gunfire.

Officers found two male victims, who it is understood were in a car when they were approached by two suspects riding a moped who fired a gun at them. As they victims attempted to escape, their car crashed into another parked car and flipped onto its roof. One of the victims then ran from the vehicle, but was shot as he tried to hide in a garden in Ivanhoe Road.

The second victim was injured in the car crash. His injuries are not described as life-threatening or life-changing. Police are also working to trace another victim they believe was in the car when it was targeted.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information or video of what happened to get in touch. Detective Inspector Mat Freeman of the Met's Specialist Crime North said: "We know that when this incident happened there were members of public and vehicles driving nearby. "Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw or heard anything suspicious at around that time.

"Any piece of information, no matter how irrelevant it may seem, could be crucial in piecing together what took place."
