As previously reported, this is not the first aid from Japan to Ukraine. In March, Japanese MPs bought 20 pickup trucks for the Ukrainian military at their own expense. Also in March, Japan allocated £30 million for the supply of non-lethal weapons to Ukraine through the NATO trust fund.
