The President of Poland emphasised that for the security of the whole of Europe and for the future of the EU, it is fundamentally important that Russia never again have the potential and opportunity to attack another country, to expand its sphere of influence at the cost of human lives, at the cost of other people's property, of other countries and at the cost of the sovereignty and independence of other countries.

Duda recalled that, after many years of efforts, Poland has become part of the community of democratic countries in the West. "Today, Ukrainians want the same thing; they want to join the Western community politically; we must make it possible, and this, among other things, is the topic of our meeting today - both the future membership of Ukraine in the EU and, I have no doubt about it, Ukraine's future membership in the North Atlantic Alliance as well," the Polish president said. Andrzej Duda expressed hope that, with the support of Europe, Ukraine will be able to carry out an effective counteroffensive.

He added that, in his opinion, the victory of the Ukrainian army will be the expulsion of the Russian armed forces from all occupied territories, that is, from all land in Ukraine that is internationally recognised as Ukrainian territory. "This is how, in my opinion, this war should end," he emphasised.

Background: French President Macron said that Western countries will intensify the supply of military aid to Ukraine to help the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
