Man detained in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast for leaking information about Ukrainian units to FSB ahead of counteroffensive

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has detained an asset of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast who had been passing information about Ukrainian Armed Forces units preparing for possible deployment to the front line to the Russians for money. Source: SSU press service; press service of the Prosecutor General's Office Details: The SSU reported that the man, on the instructions of the FSB, collected intelligence on the locations of defence forces in and around the cities of Dnipro, Kamianske and Novomoskovsk.

According to the investigation, his main task was to collect information about military training grounds and training centres of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was trying to establish the approximate number of personnel and military equipment of Ukrainian troops preparing for possible deployment to the front.

??? ?????????? The investigation established that the Russians' accomplice was a 42-year-old local resident who was remotely recruited by the Russian secret service two months ago.

He came to the aggressor's attention because of his repeated anti-Ukrainian comments on one of the pro-Kremlin Telegram channels. To carry out his tasks, the traitor went out on his own and covertly observed the locations of the defence forces.

To maintain secrecy, he created several Telegram accounts through which he passed intelligence to the aggressor. A search of his residence revealed a mobile phone and a computer containing evidence. Investigators served the Russian asset with a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).

He was remanded in custody and faces life imprisonment.
