PMC Wagner blocks military facilities of Rostov-on-Don after an air attack on their convoy

24 June, 2023 Mercenaries of the Wagner PMC, led by Prigozhyn, at the headquarters of the Southern Military District Mercenaries of the private military company Wagner claimed control of the military facilities of Rostov-on-Don. The PMC owner Yevgeny Prigozhin published footage from the courtyard of the Southern Military District headquarters.

In a conversation with two Russian generals, he said that they had managed to shoot down three helicopters at night: "We will shoot down all, if you send them." The fact of the attack on the helicopter Mi-35 the Russian Air Force was confirmed by the Russian telegram channel, led by the active duty pilot. According to him, Wagner returned fire after their convoy was attacked: "The crew is alive, they are going to the hospital."

Prigozhin said that his units took control of the military airfield. He claims that in this way they block the attack aviation and prevent it from striking Wagner's forces.

The Russian telegram channel Fighterbomber confirms that the mercenaries shot down one helicopter. He also reports on the control of the PMC over the Millerovo military airfield.

"We want to get Shoigu and the chief of the general staff," Prigozhin told Russian generals.

The representative of the GRU of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Vladimir Alekseev replied: "You can have them." It is worth noting that the same general on June 23 recorded a video message in which he condemned Prigozhin and urged that his orders were not followed. The owner of PMC Wagner announced his intention to block Rostov-on-Don and "get to Moscow."

As previously mentioned, convoys of armored vehicles freely entered Rostov-on-Don and occupied the city center on June 24.
