"This package is aimed at strengthening Ukrainian air defense and at restoring some types of ammunition," said Troels Lund Poulsen. The Minister notes that the Kingdom of Denmark will continue to support Ukraine and make a financial contribution to the Danish national Ukraine Fund, which currently amounts to £3.2 billion.

Money from the fund is allocated for training, the purchase of weapons and the restoration of Ukraine. As Militarnyi reported, the Denmark's government is increasing its military aid to Ukraine to more than £3 billion in 2023-2028. Funds for defense assistance will be allocated within the framework of the Danish national Ukraine Fund.

This regards DKK 21.9 billion (£3.2 billion) for the period between 2023 and 2028. Most of the aid will come in 2023-24.

In addition, Denmark's Ministry of Defense will retire its fleet of the F-16 fighter jets two years earlier than expected.

Such a decision needs to be discussed, because the F-16 fighter jets will remain in service with the Royal Danish Air Force until the end of 2024.

This will help to transfer them to Ukraine in time after the Ukrainian pilots have completed 8 months of training.
