The Danish Armed Forces have trained 100 gunners for Ukrainian 155-mm CAESAR howitzer crews. The Danish Ministry of Defense published a report on the training of Ukrainians and the transfer of self-propelled howitzers. The training of Ukrainian gunners lasted three weeks.

The training was completed on April 20.

After the end of the fast training, Denmark started moving these self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine through Polish territory. In June, it was reported that the weapons were already in Ukraine. In total, the Danish military handed over 19 CAESAR 8x8 howitzers to Ukraine.

The weapon has reached the artillery units of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces. The Ukrainian Air Assault Forces published videos of the operation of these howitzers on their social networks. Denmark decided to donate all its self-propelled howitzers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine on January 19, 2023.

The special feature of the former Danish CAESAR is the 8x8 chassis. The howitzer is based on the Czech Tatra T815 chassis. Denmark also transferred thousands of 155-mm rounds to Ukraine during the year together with Norway.

The Danish military will in the future receive Israeli ATMOS 155 mm howitzer systems to replace the CAESAR.
