An ammunition depot exploded in Crimea

A Russian ammunition depot detonates at the Staryi Krym military training ground in Crimea. The Russian media reported this. Around 4 a.m. on July 19, an explosion blasted out at the Staryi Krym training ground near the settlement of Krynicki in the Kirov district of Crimea.

Local residents report alleged three hits, followed by other explosions. Presumably, the ammunition depot detonated, as evidenced by the numerous secondary detonations and powerful explosions.

According to locals, the shock wave from the first detonation and subsequent explosions could be heard even in Feodosia.

It is reported that heavy fire and ammunition detonations continue at the time of publication. Some Russian media linked to the Russian military claim that the fire and explosions could last for about a day. As of 7:00 a.m., the explosions and fire continued.

The nature of the explosions and the smoke are similar to the detonation of artillery ammunition. Sergei Aksyonov, Russian-installed Governor of Crimea, reported on Telegram about the closure of the Tavrida Highway due to an incident at the landfill.

About 2,000 residents may be evacuated from the areas near the military training ground. This covers the evacuation of four settlements. In April, Militarnyi reported on another explosion in Crimea.

Then, as a result of an attack by drones, an oil depot near Kozacha Bay exploded.
