Law enforcement officers prevented a member of the Wagner PMC from entering Moldova and uncovered a group of mass riot organizers

The Moldovan Border Police prevented a representative of the Russian Wagner PMC from entering the country.

The man arrived in Chisinau by plane but did not pass border control. He was sent back to the country from which he arrived.

Moldovan Border Police reported this.

“The measures taken, based on the analysis of risks and information received jointly with national authorities, including by exchanging information with international partners, allowed us to identify a citizen identified as a private military company representative from Russia (Wagner PMC) in the passenger flow at the Chisinau airport. He was not allowed to enter the country and returned by plane to the state from which he flew in,” the police said.

The police noted that over the past week, 182 foreign citizens and 46 units of transport were not allowed to enter the country. Moreover, 165 of them violated the Moldovan border and migration legislation.

NewsMaker media noted that over the past 24 hours, the flow of people arriving in Moldova has increased: over 23.8 thousand people entered the country, with almost all of them being foreign citizens and about 5 thousand of them being citizens of Ukraine.

A total of 229,635 people and 63,332 vehicles entered Moldova over the last seven days.

“To eliminate security risks, in the context of a state of emergency in the Republic of Moldova and the war launched by Russia against Ukraine, security protocols are applied at all checkpoints across the state border, which assume additional control over the crossing of the state border for travelers, especially for foreign citizens,” the police said.

The Moldovan police later reported that they uncovered a group of protest organizers aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country.

Viorel Cernauteanu, Head of the National Police of Moldova, reported that on March 9, law enforcement officers managed to stop a Russian citizen who arrived in Chisinau to conduct training for persons involved in destabilizing the situation.

They were supposed to start riots, including at the rally planned by members and supporters of the pro-Russian ȘOR Party for March 12.

On March 9, the authorities of the so-called “PMR” accused the Security Service of Ukraine of allegedly preparing a “terrorist attack” against a number of officials of unrecognized Transnistria.

The SSU reacted to this message and called those statements nonsense.
